Public Speaking is a communication activity that is carried out orally and directly in public. Where in its implementation it not only requires the ability to speak but also pay attention to structured and easy-to-understand sentences in a short time.
So training is needed to develop public speaking skills, especially this skill is very necessary for organizational life. Because through public speaking, you can convey information, persuade, sell services or products, give advice, and exchange opinions.
This was conveyed by Safira Faiza Fortunella (Second Place in the 2018 Genre Ambassador) during the upgrading activity of members of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Wednesday (22/6/2022). The activity is organized by the Center for Organizational Quality Assurance (PJMO) to improve the quality of performance, activeness, and sense of family in each ministry/bureau. The material provided is about public speaking and business in the millennial generation.
According to Safira before starting to speak in public several things need to be prepared. That is understanding the material, building self-confidence, practicing gestures, recognizing the audience, and learning to interact.
“On the other hand, a speaker must understand various public speaking techniques. Among them are impromptu (controlling spontaneity), reading text (reading the manuscript yang prepared), memorizing (memorizing the manuscript), and using notes (writing down important outlines of the material to be delivered),” he said
Meanwhile, the material for the millennial generation in the milinealpreneur era was delivered by Ryan Maretama (Broiler Chicken Business Owner). He argued that entrepreneurs from the millennial generation are considered to have great potential to become the driving force for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The reason is, that the millennial generation has an extraordinary leap in the digital world so it is predicted that it will run faster.
The ability of the millennial generation in the field of technology opens up many opportunities and opportunities that can be used to create works and businesses. However, not all millennials realize it, they tend to be individualist towards the social environment such as politics or economic development in Indonesia.
“Tips for millennials before opening a business venture, the first is to determine read ocean (a business that has many competitors but there are also many buyers) and blue ocean (a business that has few competitors but many buyers), determine what products, marketing techniques, and operations. The most important thing is to pursue the business system first, not the money,” explained Ryan (dta)
