Research Red Meat Producers Group (RG RMP) Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) together with Bank Indonesia Malang Regional Office formed a beef cattle cluster in the Wijikamulyan livestock group in Senggreng Village. This activity is an effort to provide beef through strengthening beef cattle breeding which has been launched since 2020.
The steps that have been taken are increasing productivity and beef cattle through artificial insemination (AI), increasing the success of AI, group strengthening, and feed independence. Then in 2022 they will build a group pen with a capacity of 200 cows for maintenance efficiency.
The review of the development process was carried out by representatives of the RG RMP team and the Sumber Pucung sub-district and their staff, Thursday (6/1/20222). Because in the near future the group cage will be inaugurated by the leadership of Bank Indonesia Malang Region.
According to the head of the RG team, Prof. Trinil Susilawati, in addition to knowledge and skills, group strength is no less important in the effort to form a beef cattle cluster. It is proven that the strength of the group in the Wijikamulyan livestock group is able to access People’s Business Credit (KUR) funds from BRI to support the development of farmer businesses.
“With the availability of this group cage, it is hoped that the Wijikamulyan group can become a model for proper breeding and fattening for other beef cattle breeders. As well as being able to increase the population and productivity of beef cattle in Indonesia”. said Trinil
Meanwhile, chief executive Rizki Prafitri said business development would be fostered hexagonally by universities (Fapet UB), Bank Indonesia Malang Region, Department of Animal Husbandry, and Animal Health Malang Regency, and local governments (Village Heads and Camat).
