Independent Learning Team Independent Campus (MBKM) Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (UB Faculty of Animal Husbandry) held a meeting with representatives of the international edu farmers foundation, Tuesday (7/12/2021). The meeting, which was held offline in the dean’s meeting room, 8th floor of Gd.V Fapet UB, discussed the cooperation plan to promote Indonesian agriculture through the younger generation by improving skills and empowerment programs.
Because of the foundation which is a corporate foundation under PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, Tbk is currently launching a scaling-up program. As an effort to increase innovation in agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as increase the productivity of farmers and breeders through research, and prototypes for agricultural and animal husbandry technology.
Therefore, the international farmers edu foundation cooperates with Fapet UB to involve lecturers and students in scaling up the program. Based on the results of the discussion they agreed on the implementation of MBKM in terms of certified internships for students.
That is an internship for one semester which is equivalent to taking 20 credits. So that the assessment of these activities will be included in certain courses.
“The number of internships per credit is 40 hours, which means students have to work 8-9 hours for 5-6 days,” explained Prof. Halim as Deputy Dean I
According to Halim, the extension of this internship period can improve the quality of learning in higher education. Because students are better able to absorb knowledge from industry and apply theory from college. As well as providing flexibility to companies in guiding students to explore the industrial world.
On the other hand, it supports the MBKM learning system by exploring student competencies so that when they graduate they are ready to use for industry and do entrepreneurship. (dta)
