Higher education as an educational unit providing higher education is required to provide personal protection, honor, dignity, and the right to a sense of security for the academic community and education staff from threats and practices of sexual violence and bullying. It is written in the Rector’s Regulation of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) number 70 of 2020 concerning Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence and Bullying.
So UB takes steps to prevent sexual violence and bullying in several ways. Among other things, dissemination of anti-sexual violence and bullying programs and policies, increasing understanding of anti-sexual violence and bullying through campus academic introduction orientation materials, lectures, seminars, discussions, public campaigns, and training. Then develop and improve consultation and legal aid programs for all academics.
So that it is expected to maintain the standard of values and human dignity in UB, protect the academic community from all forms of sexual violence and bullying and implement anti-sexual violence and bullying programs.
The explanation was delivered by a lecturer at the Faculty of Law (FH) UB, Dr. Lucky Endrawati, SH, MH in the activity of the new student coaching program (Probin) at the UB Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet), Saturday (27/11/2021).
According to him, this theme is useful for providing literacy and providing a space for discussion about sexual violence and bullying in universities.
“The establishment of an institution to deal with sexual violence and bullying at the faculty is quite important because it has a real impact on the anticipation of sexual violence and bullying at the faculty level and even at the university level,” explained Lucky
In addition, the material for Fight Club: Understanding Bullying was also given and delivered by Cleoputri Al Yusainy, S. Psi, M. Psi, Ph. D. (a lecturer at UB’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences). Cleo argues that bullying usually arises due to various factors such as environmental, mental, and others that lead to striking differences in an association.
Probin activities are a series of Campus Life Introduction activities for New Students (PKKMB) in Fapet UB which are held online. The goal is to foster students in participating in academic activities and socializing the ethics of campus life. (dta)
