Public Speaking Development for Students in the Pandemic Era

Soft skills are universal, subjective, and difficult to measure abilities. Various soft skills include time management, networking, communication, analytical skills, creativity, critical, leadership spirit, adaptation, cooperation, and public speaking.

The ability soft skills for students need to be sharpened in order to become a person who confidently and capably but insightful. Confidence is gained through habit and constant training with diligence.

This was conveyed by Alwan Alif Fahillah in the New Student Development Program (Probin Maba) Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Saturday (18/09/2021). He gave material on “Developing Soft Skills in the Pandemic Era”.

According to Alwan, the way to increase self-confidence is to practice in front of the mirror, regularly speak in public, and keep positive thinking. As well as doing careful preparation before appearing and making a journal as material for self-evaluation.

The online event also invited several speakers. Among them is Dr. Ir. Osfar Sjofjan, MS. IPU., ASEAN Eng who delivered about “Reasoning Training through Writing Proposes, and Quotations”, Muhammad Alfan Nurdin about “Socialization on the development of Scientific Creative Reasoning for Animal Husbandry Students 2021”, and the cage party committee who socialized the cage party activities.

That is one of the events to welcome the 60th anniversary of Fapet UB. The event presents a collaborative action between the Student Executive Board (BEM) and the Student Activity Unit (UKM) which consists of eight institutions. (dta)
