Lecturer of Work: Invites PT.Pasir Tengah to Realize the Making of “Yubi Grass”

Members of the study group Red Meat Producers, Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) visit PT. Pasir Tengah, located in Cibatu and Cianjur, West Java, Thursday – Friday (30/9 – 1/10).

The team led by Dr. Nanang Febrianto consists of Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D, Artharini Irsyammawati, MP., Aulia Puspita, M.Sc., and Asri Nurul Huda, M.Sc. The purpose of the visit is to explore and discuss in order to implement cooperation with PT. Widodo Makmur Perkasa (PT. WMP) as the holding company of PT. Middle Sand.

The contents of the agreement to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education are packaged through the Lecturer Berkarya (Dokar) program. Where the lecturers of Fapet UB and staff of PT. Pasir Tengah exchanged knowledge and insights. As well as planning the manufacture of forage plants for animal feed which will be named “Yubi Grass”.

So far, RG-red meat has collaborated with the breeding unit in order to improve the reproductive management of Brahman Cross cattle, the results of which are used for beef cattle breeding partnership programs.

Pasir Tengah is a company engaged in the breeding and fattening of beef cattle with a capacity of 35,000 heads. Currently partnering with farmers in Central Java and West Java to meet the needs of forage fodder covering an area of ​​400 hectares in addition to 35 hectares of internal land located in Cibatu and Cianjur. Meanwhile, for the needs of concentrate, soybeans, and corn, currently, some are still in partnership and will be fulfilled by PT. Widodofood is prosperous.

Pasir Tengah started using grass pakchong which is considered to have good quality with high protein content. Concentrated feed for beef cattle is produced in-house applying the principle least cost with protein concentrate quality between 13-15%, so that it is able to consistently achieve the target of Body Weight Gain (PBB) of beef cattle of 1.5 kg/head/day.

“We hope that this collaboration will be able to run in a sustainable manner so as to give birth to new innovations. Besides that, it can increase production efficiency of the beef cattle industry,” said Asri, a member of RG Red Meat.(Anh/dta)
