Community Service through Field School

Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) implements community service activities by opening a farmer field school. The target this time is the livestock group in the SAE Pujon area. In 2018, Fapet UB also held the same activity at the Jabung Agro Niaga Cooperative (KAN).

The field school is held in collaboration with Fapet UB, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), PT. Nestle, and the family of Alumni Fapet UB (KaFapet), through the Merdeka Learning Program Merdeka Campus (MBKM)program competitive fund.

There are fields a school classes school, namely the millenial school breeder class, and the inseminator and animal health worker class. Meanwhile, the method of implementation is face-to-face in the classroom and goes to the field to explore problems and then find solutions with the accompanying instructor.

According to the head of the field school, Dr. tri Eko Susilorini, the targeted learning achievement is to increase the knowledge of livestock groups in the SAE Pujon Cooperative from upstream to downstream by implementing good dairy farming practices. So that it can increase the quality and quantity of cow’s milk.

There are four levels or levels participants will pass pants. First, “students” are provided with theoretical knowledge and problem identification. Both the application and development of innovation from the problems found at the initial level. The third is guided to make a business plan; then the last fourth is applying industrial technology.

The opening of the field school was carried out by the Dean, Prof. Suyadi, Saturday (11/09/2021). Participants will take six weeks of learning with one face-to-face meeting per week. In the seventh week, students who are declared to have passed will be graduated and given a certificate. (dta)
