Visiting Fapet UB, FKH Unair Lecturers Learn Closed House Management System

Lecturers of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Airlangga (FKH Unair) visit the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Wednesday (1/9/2021). The purpose of the presence of Dr. Moh. Sukmanadi, M. Kes., drh (Chairman of Commercial Business Unit) and Sunaryo Hadi Warsito, MP, drh (Vice PIC) are familiar with and study the management system of cages closed house.

Because Fapet UB has a cage modern layer closed house for laying hens. The cage, which is located in Sumber Sekar Hamlet, Dau, Malang Regency, was a grant from PT. Charoen Phokpand Indonesia with a capacity of 5000 individuals.  

The cage is used as an educational facility that includes a practicum, internship, research, and the implementation of Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM). As well as as a medium for application and exchange of knowledge in the fields of cultivation techniques, disease prevention and treatment, business management, financial management, and product marketing.

“The Faculty (FKH Unair) will build a cage closed house but the location is still inside the campus. We also focus on this cage to support educational activities,” said Dr. Sukmanadi

On the other hand, the Vice Dean I of Fapet UB, Prof. M. Halim Natsir said the main point that must be considered in maintenance using a closed cage system is biosecurity. Because chickens are very susceptible to viruses from outside that can cause death.

“In addition, chicken manure waste must also be considered, so as not to pollute the surrounding environment.” he concluded (dta)
