Duck is a livestock commodity that has been known to the Indonesian people for a long time. However, the level of consumption is still low, because duck meat contains high levels of LDL cholesterol (low density lipoprotein). Namely, lousy cholesterol for humans is detrimental to health if it is often consumed.
Studying this, Universitas Brawijaya students found a solution, so that duck meat is safe and healthy for human consumption. Namely providing additional feed (feed addictive) made from natural ingredients to ducks.
So that it can lower LDL cholesterol levels and increase the omega-3 content in duck meat, Omega-3 is an unsaturated fatty acid that is clinically proven to lower LDL, prevent platelet clumping and coronary heart disease.
The team consisting of Sularso (Faculty of Animal Science), Yasri Rahmawati (Faculty of Animal Science), Hendarto (Faculty of Animal Science), Eko Prihatmaji (Faculty of Animal Science), and Nadya Shifa Khaerani (Faculty of Cultural Sciences) created an addictive feed made from red dragon fruit peel extract and oil. Golden snail. Named ANBIODUCK (Herbal Antibiotic for Duck Nutraceutical).
According to Sularso, red dragon fruit peel extract is rich in flavonoids, polyphenols, and antioxidants, which are higher than the flesh. While the source of omega-3 is obtained from gold snail meat that has been extracted.
“The addictive feed from the dragon fruit peel and gold snail meat extraction has been shown to increase omega-3 content by 96%, reduce LDL levels by 45%, and increase HDL levels by 49.94% when compared to the control treatment.” clear Sularso
