Guest Lecture on Livestock Engineering: Agile Technica CEO Emphasizes the Importance of IT in Livestock Industry

The Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) hosted a guest lecture on “Livestock Engineering,” featuring practitioner lecturer Alfonsus Arvy Pradipta Budiarto, MBIT, B.App.Sc. Comp Sci, who currently serves as CEO of Agile Technica. The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Ir. Rizki Prafitri, S.Pt., M.A., Ph.D., and attended by over 300 participants from various classes taking the course.

In his opening remarks, Ir. Rizki Prafitri expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Alfonsus’s presence and the high enthusiasm of the students. “This guest lecture is a valuable opportunity for all of us to learn directly from an experienced practitioner in the field,” said Rizki Prafitri.

In his presentation, Alfonsus Arvy Pradipta Budiarto emphasized the importance of integrating information technology (IT) in the livestock industry. He explained how modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems could significantly positively impact livestock management.

“IoT can be used to monitor the real-time conditions of livestock enclosures, including temperature, humidity, and animal health. With internet-connected sensors, farmers can obtain accurate and rapid data for better decision-making,” Alfonsus explained.

He also added that ERP systems could help manage all operational aspects of livestock farming, from feed stock management and financial management to production scheduling. “With ERP, all data is integrated into one system, making management easier and increasing operational efficiency,” he added.

The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the numerous questions posed during the Q&A session. They showed great interest in the application of IT technologies in the livestock industry and how these could be implemented in everyday practices.

This guest lecture is expected to broaden students’ understanding of the importance of technological innovation in supporting the sustainability and efficiency of the livestock industry in the future.
