Malang – Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), March 20, 2025. Once again, the Faculty announces its latest innovation by launching a new study program, the first of its kind in Indonesia: Smart Livestock Industry. This program has been officially listed as one of the available study programs in the 2025 SNBT-based entrance selection, with a quota of 50 students.
The Smart Livestock Industry program marks a breakthrough in Indonesia’s higher education sector by combining animal science with advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). In an interview during the monitoring of UTBK preparation at the Computer Laboratory of Fapet UB, Prof. Halim Natsir, Dean of Fapet UB, extended an open invitation to prospective students across Indonesia.
“We invite students from all over Indonesia to join this new study program in animal science, integrated with IT disciplines. Students will learn Big Data, Data Science, Python programming language, and many other subjects that will drive the application of IoT and AI in livestock production,” explained Prof. Halim.
Through this program, Fapet UB aims to produce graduates who are well-equipped to face the challenges of agriculture and livestock 4.0 with strong technological skills. Students will not only master livestock management and production but also develop smart solutions based on technology, such as sensor-based monitoring systems, large-scale livestock data analysis, and AI-powered automation in livestock operations.
The establishment of this program reinforces Fapet UB’s commitment to producing human resources capable of addressing food security challenges and leading the livestock sector into the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Indonesia. mtn
