
Bojonegoro, April 25, 2025 — The commitment to developing the livestock sector was once again demonstrated by the Ustan Mandiri Livestock Farmer Group through the official opening of the Farmer Field School, held at the Dolokgede Village Hall, Tambakrejo District, Bojonegoro Regency.
Entering its second year of a planned four-year program, this activity focuses on increasing farmers’ capacity in beef cattle rearing and breeding. The Farmer Field School is a collaborative initiative between Bank Indonesia of East Java and the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya. The event was attended by various strategic stakeholders who support the development of the livestock sector in East Java.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Assistant Director of Bank Indonesia, East Java Province, Ms. Tri Setyoningsih, who expressed her support for farmer empowerment initiatives through educational and community-based approaches. Also present was Mr. Fajar from the Livestock and Fisheries Office of Bojonegoro Regency, who emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to improve the quality of local livestock production.
The event was also attended by the Secretary of Dolokgede Village as the host and facilitator at the village level. In his remarks, the village representative expressed appreciation for the program, which is expected to have a direct positive impact on the welfare of local farmers and livestock breeders.
The Farmer Field School is guided by a team of experts from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, including: Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Prof. Syahrul Kurniawan, Dr. Nanang Febrianto, Dr. Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti, Dr. Asri Nurul Huda, and Putri Utami, MP.
Through a participatory approach, participants receive hands-on training on beef cattle management, selection of superior breeds, feed management, as well as reproductive and health management of livestock.
This program is expected to serve as a model for developing local livestock human resources, capable of increasing productivity and sustaining community-based livestock businesses in Bojonegoro and surrounding areas.
“We are optimistic that continuous assistance will enable farmers to become more independent and professional in managing their businesses,” said one of the facilitators, Prof. Trinil Susilawati, representing the facilitation team.
The Ustan Mandiri Farmer Field School is part of a long-term strategy to drive local economic growth based on the livestock sector while addressing the challenges of farmer regeneration and improving the quality of national beef production. tim/mtn
